Demographic studies have been and continue to be a leading tool to assist organizations in their planning processes. The Diocese of London has never conducted any external collection of customized demographic data. The hope is that this data will help parish ministries and councils reveal “who” lives within their parish boundaries. |

In the summer of 2004, the London/Elgin Regional Office partnered with several external government organizations to obtain data specifically for the parishes in the London Deanery. The data has been collected from the following:
- Statistics Canada
- Municipality of Middlesex
- City of London Planning Department
- City of St. Thomas Planning Department
Statistics Canada information collected was based on the 2001 Census. The London/Elgin Regional Office has been able to obtain customized demographic data from the 2001 Census, according to individual parish boundaries. All population projection data was calculated by the Planning Divisions/Engineering firms according to previous Census Canada information.

How will this data help me with my role in ministry? |

The customized data collected by London/Elgin Regional Office has been broken down into two categories:
- General Population within a parish boundary.
- Roman Catholic population with a parish boundary.
This information can be used in multiple facets. Parishes can use the data as a tool for pastoral, evangelical and temporal planning.

The purpose for providing parishes with demographic data is to help with parish planning. The data is based on each parish’s boundaries and has been collected from the 2001 Census. Knowing “who” lives “where” can help inform parishes of newly identified groups in need. |
