Parish Reorganization

On April 6, 2005 Bishop Fabbro formally announced the Parish Reorganization Policy of the Diocese of London. "In order to promote vibrant Eucharistic communities and to steward the gifts of God wisely, the Diocese of London will reorganize parishes and missions." The goal of the policy is to create a healthy diocesan church for the future.

In the year that followed, an extensive consultation of parishioners took place. All data considered in parish reorganization, including sacramental, demographic and financial information for each community was made available on this website. Draft and final recommendations to Bishop Fabbro were distributed and discussed until Bishop Fabbro announced his reorganization decisions on April 29, 2006. On that date it was announced that 6 new parishes will be established, 10 parishes will cluster or merge with other parishes, and 36 parishes will close. The implementation of these decisions is underway, and will conclude in June, 2008.

On April 29, 2006, Bishop Fabbro also directed that 26 other parishes be involved in further studies to be concluded by June, 2007. Bishop Fabbro announced decisions with regard to the last of these further studies on June 24, 2007.
